15 people per day develop cardiac arrest in Ireland outside of a Hospital setting - it could happen within your organisation next. Family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, and all other lay responders who have an interest in learning CPR and access to an AED. Don’t forget AEDs are now available for use in shopping centres, places of assembly, work locations, football clubs and many other places.
Programme aim
Heartsaver AED is a comprehensive course for the First Responder designed to teach CPR, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO) to all lay rescuers, particularly those who are expected to respond to emergencies in the workplace.
Programme Objective
The Heartsaver AED Course is designed to prepare people to provide CPR and AED's in a safe, timely, and effective manner. The course goals include cognitive and psychomotor objectives. This course is for people with limited or no medical training who need a credential in CPR with AED
Syllabus Outline
- This course teaches you the basic techniques of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- How to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- The relief of choking for adults/children
- A paediatrics CPR module can be added at the customer's request (additional 1 hr Training)
Training Method
This is an interactive DVD led training course. Participants engage in mannequin practice of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of (AED) and physical practice of foreign airway obstruction. As all our instructors are frontline paramedics we add real value to the course contents.
Training Facilities
AV equipment and flipchart. Relevant video clips to emphasise the theoretical background.
