This is an Introduction to First Aid intended for family members such as Mammy, Daddy, Grandma and Granddad who wish to have a basic understanding of First Aid within the home environment so as to react safely should an emergency occur.
Programme Objective:
This two hour course covers a range of topics to prepare an untrained person to administer some basic emergency care should an accident occur. Participants will learn practical skills and theoretical knowledge, so that they can react quickly to a situation that may arise in a confident manner.
Outline Syllabus:
There are nine modules in the Introduction to First Aid Course:
- Introduction
- Child and Infant CPR
- Bleeding
- Child and infant Choking
- Foreign Bodies in the eyes and other areas
- Broken Bones
- Burns
- Meningitis
- Q & A
Training Method:
All participants will gain hands on practice with a number of skills and as all our instructors are frontline paramedics real value is added to the course contents.
Participant Profile:
This course is specially aimed at those who have young children and grandparents who regularly mind young children to gain simplified answers to common issues that may need basic first aid.
