Programme Objective:

To give the students the knowledge and skills required to recognise and maintain a safe working environment.

To effectively recognise keys indicators of fire emergencies and evacuation
Programme Aim:
The course will take the students through a range of fire related topics covering emergency and non-emergency activities, outlining the basic principles of fire safety.
Outline Syllabus:

The mechanics of fire, smoke and dangerous gases.

Fire extinguishers and hose reel equipment.
-
Incidents involving flammable liquids and gases.
-
Storage of flammable liquids and gases.
-
Common fire safety features.
-
Elements of compartmentation.
-
Means of escape.
-
Hazard spotting and elimination of bad practices.

Legislation.
Training Method:
Group Orientated to include lectures, formal talks and demonstrations. These are didactic in nature and place a strong emphasis on the trainer’s expertise and knowledge of the subject matter
Participant Profile:
This course is a basic introduction to fire safety training. It is open and should be offered to all staff within a company on induction or with existing staff. As this is new to most people we recommend re-training every year.
