Adequate training must be provided to allow the FSM to carry out his / her duties. Note, the appointment of a fire safety manager does not release the “Person having control of the premises” from his / her responsibilities and liabilities under the 1981 fire services act and other related acts of the Oireachtas.
Programme Objective:
An appointed member of staff with authority to influence policy. The FSM may be dedicated to the task or may have other duties to perform. Where the manager has additional duties, then sufficient time must be allocated to allow him / her to carry out the routine tasks of managing the company’s fire safety policy. The manager’s appointment must be recorded in writing and a copy of the appointment must be maintained in the company’s Fire Safety Register. It is important the person nominated for this role has completed the Fire Marshal course.

- The organisations’ evacuation procedures
- First aid fire fighting equipment
- Fire detection and alarm systems
- Emergency lighting
- Fire prevention and hot work permit system
- Management responsibilities and staff training
- Relevant Legislation
- Record keeping
Training Method:
A variety of skills will be demonstrated and practiced by the participants. As all our instructors are frontline emergency services personnel they add real value to the course content.
Participant Profile:
This training would take place after a Fire Marshal course specifically with management and we would also recommend nominating an assistant FSM
Training Facilities:
AV equipment and flipchart. Relevant video clips to emphasise the theoretical background.
