Programme objectives
The Patient Moving & Handling training course is run in conjunction with our Manual Handling Course. It covers a range of topics in order to give the learner confidence to risk assess Patient Moving & Manual Handling tasks and perform these tasks competently within their workplace.
Program Aim
To increase awareness of safe manual handling when moving and handling people and to reduce the risk of occupational injury while carrying out these tasks in the workplace. To comply with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, The Safety Health and Welfare at Work, (General Application) Regulations 2007.

- Practical : Lifting, Moving, Carrying, Push and Pull.
Video presentation about situations that require patient handling in difficult positions. (fall in bathroom, bed to chair, bed to wheel chair). Correct hand grip for walking patients (Butterfly grip and practice same).Cover mechanical devices that assist with lifting and have a look at what they might have available to work with.
Training method
Group orientated to include lectures, formal talks and demonstrations. These are didactic in nature and place a strong emphasis on the trainer's expertise and knowledge of the subject matter. Demonstration and use of tools Slide sheet, Swivel disc, Banana board, Sliding board and lifting belt.

Any person who is involved in manual handling in the workplace and wants to learn how to conduct a personal risk assessment and move and handle loads safely.
